Contentment

Scripture

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 4:12)

 

Observation

Many of us believe and think we can do what is being said in the verse. However, we fail many times. Our pride and greed cause us to want more and have more. If we don't have them, we think of ways to try and get it.

 

Application

 

Unfortunately but true of the saying, "we don't cherish what we have until we lose it." How true as we recall the things we lost because we were not thankful and appreciative of them. People included! We will do well not to compare and be envious of the things others have that we don't, but to count the blessings we have that others may not have. This is how we can be contented.

Prayer

 

Dear God, teach me to be contented with what you have given to me. To be thankful, for many have much lesser. With the sufferings and miseries we hear and read happening around us, we thank you for the grace, mercies and blessings we have now. In Jesus' name, Amen.
