1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings,because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit,who has been given to us.
What do, or should, we have from that day onward? We have (should have) been justified. We have (should have) peace. We have (should have) gained access into grace. We have (should have) been given the Holy Spirit.
These are assurances, help and resources for our benefit. They are given, or a given, when we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour. If that has not been our experience, we need to ask why.
Lord, we thank you for such assurances, help and resources. When our life experience differs from the expected, give us a fresh understanding into the reasons that we are not experiencing life the way we should. Lead us then by your wisdom and spirit.
