Scripture
But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you" Isa 43:1
Observation
To “redeem” means literally “to buy back.” Redemption is one of the key accomplishments of God’s Son. By His own divine activity, God himself through Jesus’ sacrificial ministry has bought back our lives. In our disobedience, we have willingly sold ourselves in slavery to sin and thus death is the cost of our disobedience. But God, in his mercy, has paid that price himself. He has redeemed those who trust in him, having paid the price for our sinful pride and rebellion.
Application
I acknowledge my future contained nothing but death and darkness. But thanks be to Jesus who has call me and I have responded.
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for your mercy. Thank you for giving me another chance. Amen.
