What can separate us from His love?

Scripture

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39)

Observation

​

We often portray a life filled with riches, good health and happiness as a blessed one by God. When in times of hardship and uncertainties, we may wonder if we are still loved by God. Yet in Romans 8:38-39, Paul reminds us that nothing can separate us from His love, including hardship, troubles, persecutions and famine (Rom 8:35). This is the foundation for a truly blessed life, to focus on the love of God, expressed in the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. In times of suffering, we can hold fast to the comforting truth that our life is rooted in what Christ has done for us. What a comfort to know that though life can be filled with troubles and uncertainties, they cannot separate us from His love!

Application

Our life is not always smooth sailing. We face challenges everyday and hurt along the way. But we have a God who is always by our side to love us. Be assured to declare that nothing, neither death nor life nor anything else can stop God from loving us. Without that doubt, we can live life knowing that though we may not fully understand our circumstances, we have trust that God wants good things for us.

Prayer

 

Heavenly Father, open my eyes and heart to understand more of Your love, and help me realise that Your love is enough for my life.
